    Songbirds Studio is currently looking for Singing and Piano teachers to expand out programs at our Essendon Studio starting on a casual basis with the option to move to part-time or full-time once desired hours are secured.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Songbirds Studio provides full-time administrative support for all scheduling, makeup lessons, enrolment, accounting, and recital/exam registration. Teachers are not responsible for any logistical work outside of lesson planning, student notes and teaching responsibilities. 

Lessons are taught on-site at our school - no home lessons.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must bring a fun, bubbly, kid-friendly personality — someone who naturally connects with, includes, and uplifts children.

• Must have current legal status to work in Australia
• Bachelor's degree in music
• Working with childrens check
• First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain)
• Live in the area with consistent and reliable transportation to arrive in Essendon and/or Glen Waverley on time for lessons (we pay our teachers to arrive 30m prior to lessons to set up and prepare for their teaching day)
• Experience teaching and performing
• Exceptional communication skills with both students and parents
• Ability to learn and adapt to new teaching environment and requirements
• Ability to manage teaching schedule through our school app/website and adhere to strict attendance policies
• English proficiency

BONUS BUT NOT REQUIRED

• Experience preparing students for performances and exams
• Knowledge of AMEB Practical and Theory Exams or willingness to learn how to prepare students for these exams

HOURS

• Available hours are dependent on demand and range between Monday - Saturday mornings, afternoons, and evenings. We will work with you to set available teaching hours consistent and aligned with your schedule, though preference is given to those available within open and in-demand hours.
• Weekday teaching (Monday-Friday) is 2:00-9pm; weekend hours vary anywhere within 9am-6pm.
• Ideal candidates will be able to work 6 consecutive teaching hours per day (with breaks) with a minimum of 3 days/week

WORKPLACE

• Full-time staff who handle all administrative work (Marketing/Sale, Enrollment, Scheduling, Logistics, Billing/Payment and all other customer service operations)
• Recital/Performance opportunities for students multiple times a year
• Watching weeks at the end of Term 1 and Term 3 
• Training for group class teachers within developed curriculum
• Ongoing professional development and training opportunities available

COMPENSATION

• Compensation is dependent on education, teaching experience, and background
• We hire teachers exclusively as employees, not contractors
• Teachers are hired within a stable salary model, which is based on the number of hours taught, credentials, and days of teaching as well as casual/part-time status
